About
David a safari and river guide with a passion for fishing and storytelling was born in Awach, Gulu District, in Northern Uganda, where his early life was shaped by the culture, traditions, and landscapes of the region. He attended Awach Primary School and later earned his O- and A-Level certificates at Gulu High School. After school, David followed his interests and completed certifications in computer studies and motor vehicle technology.
In 2009, David joined Wild Frontiers as a river guide on the Nile River at Murchison Falls, one of Uganda’s most iconic natural sites. His skills on the water quickly became apparent, and he was promoted to Boat Captain. It was during this time that David also discovered his natural talent and passion for sport fishing.
In 2012, he formalized his boating skills by earning a certification in Power Boat Operation and Handling from the Royal Yachting Association in Mombasa, Kenya.
After years of working on the river, David expanded his guiding career by transitioning into land-based safari guiding, taking guests through Uganda’s parks by vehicle. In 2014, he completed his certification in 4×4 vehicle handling, including both high/low range driving and defensive techniques. A year later, he attained the Level 1 Professional Guiding Certification from the Uganda Safari Guides Association (USAGA).
David is known for his easygoing personality, humor, and a deep connection to Uganda’s cultural heritage. He often shares stories passed down from his grandfather about the country’s traditions, adding rich context and warmth to his guiding experiences. His guests regularly mention his storytelling as a highlight of their trip—and many return just to travel with him again.
Outside of work, David continues to hone his fishing skills and enjoys expanding his wildlife knowledge through reading and observation. He is also a football enthusiast, whether playing or watching, and brings the same enthusiasm to the field as he does to every safari.
