Guide

About

Echy, expert river guide, angler and safari specialist was born in Kibale District and belongs to the Munyoro tribe, known for their deep-rooted connection to Uganda’s natural and cultural heritage. His education began at Paraa Primary School, followed by secondary schooling in Hoima, and he later completed his studies in Masindi.

In 2008, Echy joined Wild Frontiers at Murchison Falls National Park as a trainee skipper-guide. Under the mentorship of the Boats Manager, he trained in river guiding and sport fishing, quickly showing both talent and enthusiasm. As his knowledge of the park’s diverse flora and fauna deepened, Echy rose to become a lead boat guide and skipper.

A major milestone in his guiding career came in 2013, when he landed a world-record Nile Perch weighing 113 kg—a remarkable achievement that still sparks conversations with guests today.

Echy’s positive attitude, deep knowledge of Murchison Falls, and natural charisma made him a guest favorite, often specifically requested by returning clients. Motivated by his growing interest in tour guiding, he pursued further professional development through Wild Frontiers and industry certifications.

In November 2023, Echy transitioned from guiding primarily fly-in safaris to leading long-haul safaris across Uganda, exploring the country’s major national parks by road. His expanded role has further cemented his reputation as a versatile and experienced guide with exceptional guest rapport.

Outside of work, Echy loves sport fishing, bird watching, and watching football with friends. Whether on the river or deep in the savannah, Echy brings a calm, capable presence and a passion for Uganda’s wild places to every journey.
