Edward Ekisa – “Eddie”
Senior Guide
About
Eddie was born and raised in Entebbe, where his journey began. After completing his early education in his hometown, he moved to Kampala to pursue studies in Information Technology, graduating in 2003 with a degree in IT and Software Engineering.
While his formal training was in technology, Eddie’s passion for wildlife and conservation was ignited during his years with the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI), where he initially joined as an IT technician. His role quickly expanded to include photography, videography, and field support for the chimpanzee rescue missions across Uganda.
Between 2007 and 2013, Eddie worked closely with JGI teams in Budongo Forest (Murchison Falls National Park), Kasokwa Forest (Masindi), and Kibale Forest, rescuing chimps from snares and other traps. This time spent deep in the forests and parks gave him firsthand knowledge of Uganda’s ecosystems and sparked a deep, lasting connection to wildlife conservation.
During his time with JGI, Eddie frequently interacted with guides and tour operators. Inspired by these encounters and driven by his growing love for the wild, he co-founded a safari tour company in 2008 with a close friend. Since then, Eddie has been guiding safaris across Uganda for over 12 years, offering visitors immersive experiences rooted in conservation, education, and genuine enthusiasm.
Fluent in English and conversational in Swahili, Eddie is a natural communicator and storyteller. He enjoys sharing his deep knowledge of Uganda’s national parks, wildlife, and culture with travellers from around the world.
When not guiding, Eddie keeps active with swimming, cycling, and gym training. He still lives in Entebbe, where his journey began—now with a camera in hand, a safari vehicle nearby, and an enduring passion for Uganda’s natural beauty.
