About

Nicholas was born in Rugando village, Kyeshero parish, in Uganda’s Kanungu District, just 10 kilometers from the headquarters of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Growing up in the shadow of one of the world’s most biodiverse forests, he developed an early fascination with nature, wildlife, and the cultural traditions of his community.

His professional journey began in 2018 at Buhoma Lodge, where he worked in the main kitchen but also spent his free time guiding visitors around Bwindi. Keen to turn his passion into a career, Nicholas enrolled in 2022 at the African Institute of Tourism and Field Guiding, receiving advanced training in nature interpretation, animal identification, and guest care service.

In 2023, Nicholas joined Ishasha Wilderness Camp as a ground guide, gaining hands-on experience in animal behavior, field interpretation, and guest engagement in one of Uganda’s most iconic wilderness areas. His approachable personality, love for storytelling, and ability to connect with guests quickly made him a valued member of the guiding team and today he guides guests all around Uganda, including those visiting the mountain gorillas.

Nicholas’s guiding style blends professionalism with genuine warmth. He is passionate about wildlife photography, hiking, and cultural exchange, and he enjoys sharing Uganda’s myths, legends, and history with travelers. Guests often remark on his enthusiasm and the joy he takes in seeing their excitement during special wildlife encounters.

Outside guiding, Nicholas enjoys exploring new landscapes, meeting people from diverse backgrounds, and discovering hidden corners of Uganda. What he values most is the opportunity to create lifelong memories for his guests, ensuring every safari is not only an adventure, but also a personal journey of connection with nature and culture.
